Interview with Marion - Responsible fashion content creator
Through this “Portrait” section, we give voice to people who inspire us and who share our values 💛
Today, find the interview with Marion , better known under the nickname @marriondessources , creator of fashion and green beauty content on Youtube and Instagram.
Can you introduce yourself ?
Hello, my name is Marion, I am 27 years old and I started on YouTube with my account “ marriondessources ” about a year and a half ago, with the aim of sharing my passion for second-hand goods and more broadly for vintage . I also created an Instagram account of the same name, where I also offer content and inspiration for vintage looks.
How would you define your style?
My style reflects the name of my channel; “Marion des Sources”, obviously being a play on words with the film “Manon des sources” and “Jean de Florette” 😉
That is to say a natural , comfortable style, a style with a rural and rural side, obviously keeping this vintage imprint which is the basis of my sartorial identity.
It's true that today there are a lot of Instagram accounts around fashion, but I didn't always find myself in the styles that were offered in the second-hand world, so I said to myself: " Why not offer an account that reflects your clothing style? » and ultimately many people recognized themselves in this countryside, flowers and animals spirit.
What inspires you on a daily basis?
My first inspirations come mainly from cinema , the name of my channel being directly linked to a film. Besides, my attraction to cinema and second-hand goods are not that far apart, each has a story to tell.
I like the idea of telling myself that the garment I wear has had many other lives before me, has crossed eras, has married the body of another person, in the same way that a film takes us on a journey in a story, another era.
So I would say that cinema is my first element of inspiration, in particular films from the 80s/90s , and many of the outfits worn by Emmanuelle Béart in her films. I have also dedicated a video to all these films that inspire vintage fashion 😊 I also have brands that inspire me a lot like Jeanne Damas' brand " Rouje " which clearly takes up vintage but with cuts that are often more flattering than older pieces.
Your tips for boosting your self-confidence?
So, I don't know if I would give very good advice because I don't yet excel in the area of self-confidence haha but I would say that we need to stop listening to that little inner voice that always imagines the worst. that is to say: Fear !
You have to find the courage to dare to take the plunge , as I was able to do with this YouTube channel, which ultimately only brought me positives : meetings, kindness, common passions. And above all, allow yourself some leniency if you fail, accept room for improvement.
For you, what is THE piece to have in your wardrobe?
In my opinion, the piece that never leaves my wardrobe is the floral midi dress , which comes in all its shapes and patterns. With a pretty floral or polka dot dress, midi length, buttons on the front and tie to tighten the waist, that does it all!
And the one you couldn't part with?
Impossible to part with my leather jackets (I know that basically I only have to talk about one piece) but I have far too many leather jackets and impossible to part with them; the leather jacket with fringe in particular is a basic to have and which will accompany you for life and at all ages!
Your favorite on Paradigme?
My Paradigme favorite is obviously the timeless wrap dress , which can be found at Petite Mendigote , with a very Parisian effect and which can be worn in both summer and winter.
Your most beautiful piece found second hand?
My best second-hand piece is without a doubt a dress from Maje from the 90s with polka dots and cherries, which I managed to get for 10 euros . It was one of my best deals, although I have already found more prestigious and less expensive brands, but let's say that in terms of favorites , it is in first place!
